Tort Reforms Can Shape Medical Malpractice Caseload Trends

Medical Malpractice Caseloads Down Nearly 20 Percent in Last Decade

Most incoming medical malpractice caseloads are down over the last 10 years. The erratic behavior and some of the decreases seen in incoming caseloads can be explained by the enacting of tort reforms, such as those in Mississippi and Pennsylvania in 2003, when many rushed to file their case under the old law and before the reforms took place.
